The Craftsman Diaries # 1 (Standing Desk)

Image
I have had the same desk for at least 8 years. I have also grown about 3 feet closer to the sun. It was definitely time for a new, adult sized, desk! Welcome to the Craftsman Diaries, because I like to think I am one, and because nothing is more interesting than furniture. Have you heard about standing desks? Apparently they're better for you than sitting, and keep you from aging, and give you spidey powers and stuff... which is great, because I don't like sitting and wanted to be immortal anyway. ;) So I started looking for a standing desk.  There are few things in life more difficult than finding manufactured surface structures tall enough for me, so I thought this was going to be very difficult; but the fact of the matter is that from the time when I decided I needed a new desk, to when I actually acquired one, was only a day.  A DAY. A DAY. I was prepared to be so patient, because usually these things take time!! Furniture is not like upholstery where an impulse deci

Bandit Snow White Photoshoot

Image
I'm a little late in getting to this. If there was still snow on the ground I wouldn't even mention it, but it's almost Summer now, so, dead giveaway. This photoshoot was done right around new years 2015-2016 in a gorgeous snowy mountain location. My sister is the model, and cosplay seamstress in question. She's very talented, I'm very proud. ;) For Halloween 2015 she decided to dress up as Snow White from Once Upon A Time in her super stealthy (STEALTHY *cries*) bandit clothes. EPIC. Basically she whipped this out in a couple weeks and I'm still not sure how it happened. Definitely amazed though! Notice the ring pouch... She asked me to photograph her in her costume for obvious reasons, so I busted out my cinematography skills and composed a photoshoot which kind of reminds me of the way they shoot scenes for OUAT. Maybe you don't see it, but I feel like a couple of these could be stills from the show. :'D Looking at t

3 Months of Books [ Jan-Mar 2016 ]

Why hello, hello, hello!! We've come to a time of the year that says 1/4 of it is over. In the last 3 months I've read 12 books. Pretty good! That's probably a new personal best for me, and I also finally have enough to do a little wrap up of what I've read recently.  Welcome to a list of mini-reviews for 12 unassociated books. 1. Murder on the Orient Express, Agatha Christie I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was my first Agatha Christie book, and will only be my last if I develop a sudden hatred for wonderful murder-related classics. Five stars.  2. Let it Snow, John Green (And others) I should really credit the others for their work on this book because I didn't even like John Green's section all that much. It was a cute story, and I'll automatically like something if it has a complicated storyline that intertwines seamlessly. Good book! Four Stars! 3. The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald The further I am from having read this, the more I love i

Interview With my Nearest Blood Relation

Today's post is very exciting for me because I get to introduce my awesome sister in a strange way. Her name is Mary, and on her blog we did the sister tag . We tried to make it entertaining for you, so go check it out if you want to know some more about our lives. And take a little time to look around Mary's blog, because she's got some awesome stuff going on over there! What we did here has no name, they were just questions that I knew would prompt interesting answers. Links provided in spontaneous places to enrich your blog post experience. Lettuce begin.... What is the most memorable thing we've done past 12am? Mary: We've done a lot of things. Lilly: We had a dance party in the street at midnight once. Mary: Pretty much everything we do is after 12! At our friend's Bella and Sophie's house, we made grilled cheese at like 2am. Lilly: Yeaahh, we watched a Duck Dynasty Cooking Show, a Panda documentary, and Tuck Everlasting. Mary: Oh here

Cadbury Goodness

I have a problem. Admitting it is not part of the problem, that's easy. I'm every intervention's dream subject, and also worst nightmare.  You could call it addiction. Addiction - the fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity. Chocolate can be categorized as a substance, thing, AND activity. Save me. You know those chocolate candy coated eggs? I like to eat those, in large quantities, for long periods of time. I once lived on a single bag of cadbury eggs for an entire day, and that day was Feb 22nd 2016. That was today. I think hyper is more of a label, than a diagnosis. I think the giant fluffy bunnies currently occupying the space between me and the living room downstairs would agree. It's not even Easter, though. It's not even Easter... Actually, it could be Easter. Maybe Easter was yesterday, and I missed it. It keeps happening earlier and earlier each year, so it's possible that it slipped into February. This is a

It's a New Year

Oh yeah! I have a blog! You'd think I would have remembered something so simple, but it literally escaped my mind and RAN AWAY until today. My newly established youtube channel has been taking up a lot of my time, and most of my creativity. It's going well though, and I'm extremely excited for this next year with it! The reason that I'm back on my blog is because A. All my friends are posting about their year in review, and I have subsequently been inspired to do so. So stick around. ;) And then there's B. Which is that I have new ideas concerning what I'll post here. What I started posting was DIYs. I wanted them to be entertaining, and I wanted an excuse to be kept accountable to work on new real life 3-D projects. Video editing is all fun and games until you go to the doctor and find out that the source of all your problems comes from the fact that you have been sitting too much. So that's fun. This new idea for my blog does involve sitting, which
